It can become understandably hard to leave the refreshing beauty of poolside living in August, the hottest month of summer. Heading indoors for a cooking class can get you out of the heat while you learn how to make some of your favorite Italian and Tuscan dishes using an abundance of fresh ingredients picked in the gardens of the villa.
On the 15th each year the Italians celebrate Ferragosto, a holiday traditionally spent with friends and family, enjoying a big lunch and the company, drinking good wine, and savoring delicious foods.
The 16th of August is when the second the annual Palio di Siena kicks off in Siena (the first is on July 2nd). The event draws masses to the city’s central Piazza del Campo for days of horse racing, dinners on the streets of the different contradas (districts) and events.
